In the spring of 1996, before construction of the Nature Center was completed, Ellis Elliott was hard at work writing curriculum, songs and finger-plays for our future students. For the next 25 years, Ellis’s impact spread through our community… Losing an incredibly talented teacher, nature lover and dear friend has been difficult, but the engaging core curriculum that Ellis established is still being used today, changing the lives of children and growing the next generation of environmental stewards.
River Legacy Foundation established the Ellis Elliott Education Fund to honor and grow Ellis’s legacy, the fund will support nature education at the Nature Center and in our community. Together, we can change the lives of hundreds of children, just like Ellis did for over 25 years.
Your gifts in Ellis’s memory will fund projects like the following:
• Curriculum expansion and renewal
• Scholarships for Nature Education
• Outdoor classroom enhancement
• Scientific tools & hands on materials
• Professional development for environmental educators
